Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the China Integration & Modeling Solution Team, this position is based in Wuxi, China. As a Tests Technician at OPAL-RT, you will perform unit, integration, and production testing of real-time simulation hardware (e.g., FPGA boards, HIL simulators, power interface units) and related software. You ensure products meet quality, performance, and compliance standards before delivery to customers worldwide.

Primary Responsibilities:

Hardware Testing & Validation

• Execute functional, performance, and reliability tests on OPAL-RT’s printed circuit boards (PCBs), FPGA modules, power electronics interfaces, and complete HIL systems.
• Perform incoming quality control (IQC) for vendor-supplied components and third-party boards.
• Conduct electrical safety, insulation, and grounding tests (per IEC/CCC standards) on high voltage/current modules.
• Validate real-time performance, latency, and synchronization of simulators using RT-LAB, MATLAB/Simulink, and diagnostic tools.

Test Documentation & Procedure

• Develop, update, and execute standard test procedures (STPs) and work instructions for hardware/software test benches.
• Create and maintain test reports, data logs, and defect records using MS Office, Jira, and OPAL-RT’s internal tools.

Troubleshooting & Repair

• Diagnose hardware/software faults (e.g., FPGA configuration errors, communication failures, power supply issues) using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
• Repair or rework defective PCBs, modules, and cables; replace faulty components
• Escalate complex issues to test engineers or R&D teams with detailed failure analysis reports.

Test Bench Maintenance & Calibration

• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot test equipment (e.g., power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, HIL simulators).
• Ensure test environments comply with ESD safety protocols and industrial hygiene standards.
• Assist in automating test sequences using Python, LabVIEW, or RT-LAB scripts to improve efficiency.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with production, R&D, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve bottlenecks and improve product quality.
• Participate in quality control meetings and contribute to corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

IT support and system maintenance

• Installing and configuring Windows & Linux operating systems, and system troubleshooting for industrial test stations and real-time simulation hosts.
• Deploy and maintain local area network (LAN) configuration, IP addressing, TCP/IP protocol, diagnose and resolve network connection failures between HIL simulators, test PCs, and peripheral devices.
• Installing software, and driver, and debugging OPAL-RT official software suites, simulation tools and third-party industrial software.
• Manage computer hardware, peripheral devices and system permissions, ensure stable operation of test bench IT environment.
• Maintain cloud/office collaboration tools and enterprise management systems for data archiving, report uploading and work order processing and ensure cybersecurity for the offices in China

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or other relevant majors.
• Experience: 0-2 years in a production or integration department.
• Knowledge required: MS Office, Visio. Knowledge of electrical safety codes.
• Language abilities: Proficiency in English writing and reading.
• Soft skills: Organization, rigor and determination, autonomy, good interpersonal communication, judgment, analytical skills and ability to adapt.

Nice-to-Have (Assets):

• Knowledge of FPGA design, including the use of the Xilinx/Matlab XSG suite
• Technical knowledge: Products in the voltage range (120-1500V), current range (15-600A), motor control, power converters. Knowledge of low voltage DC and AC equipment.
• Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink and Labview/Veristand for developing the integration models of testbenches.
