P/T Line Cook Needed

Line Cook, Colony III Kitchen

Reports to – Food Service Manager

Position Summary – The primary role of the Line Cook is to assist in the preparation of daily meals.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Training – High School diploma or equivalent strongly preferred. Experience with the elderly preferred. Specialized training in food service management helpful.

Job Responsibilities – those responsibilities italicized below are considered essential functions.

1. Participates in the preparation and serving of food
2. Make sure adequate supplies are on hand. When supplies are low, forward list of needed supplies to supervisor or order directly as directed.
3. Ensures cleanliness of kitchen and sanitation of all supplies and surfaces.
4. Ensures safe operation of equipment.
5. Responsive to customer preferences.
6. Maintains confidentiality of resident and employee information.
7. Keep supervisor adequately informed of any issues of concern.
8. Stay on top of developments in the field.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions/Physical Demands –

• Position is hourly. Schedule varies. Occasional need for additional hours. Hours generally during daytime but can frequently include weekends. All kitchen personnel are required to work holidays on a rotating basis. Hours in kitchen setting
• Requires ability to remain attentive when operating equipment with moving parts.
• Requires ability to attend to multiple priorities and work with frequent interruptions.
• Frequent carrying, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Requires ability to work with hot and sharp objects safely.
• Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
• Frequent hand washing and working with hands in water.
• Exposure to cleaning agents.
• Repetitive movements may be required.
• Requires ability to concentrate during regular, noisy periods.
• Environment is particularly hot in Summer.
