Rangi Ruru Girls' School is a high-achieving and innovative school for young women, catering for both day and boarding students from Years 7-13. We are seeking exceptional educators to join our high-performing Science Faculty in two key leadership positions:

  • Head of Science (state specialist subjects) role includes 2 management units
  • Head of Chemistry role includes 1 management unit


These full-time permanent roles are outstanding opportunities for passionate and innovative teachers who are committed to academic excellence and inspired to lead teaching and learning in their specialist areas. As leaders within a thriving faculty, you will play a significant role in shaping curriculum, supporting staff, and enhancing student outcomes in one of New Zealand's leading independent schools.


About the Roles

The successful candidates will:

  • Provide leadership within their specialist subject area.
  • Drive curriculum development and innovation.
  • Lead high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, and moderation practices.
  • Support and mentor colleagues to build capability and promote excellence.
  • Analyse achievement data and implement strategies to maximise student success.
  • Contribute to enrichment opportunities, including scholarships, competitions, and extension programmes.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing learning culture.
  • Support the academic, pastoral, and cultural wellbeing of students.


About You

You will bring:

  • Current New Zealand teacher registration and a practising certificate.
  • Proven classroom excellence and a passion for your specialist subject.
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and effective teaching practice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice.
  • A desire to inspire young women to achieve their personal best and develop a lifelong love of learning.
