About American Families for Vaccines
American Families for Vaccines (AFV) is a national organization leading the pro-vaccine grassroots movement across the country. Our state Families for Vaccines chapters defend strong vaccine policy, fight misinformation, and advocate for evidence-based public health. We work in close partnership with providers, advocates, policymakers, and public health leaders to create healthier communities and protect immunization access for all families.
About the Pro-Vaccine Legal Alliance
The Pro-Vaccine Legal Alliance (PVLA) is a legal strategy and litigation initiative supporting evidence-based vaccine policy across the United States. Working as a project under American Families for Vaccines (AFV), PVLA provides legal analysis, litigation support, and strategic guidance to state advocates, policymakers, and public health leaders.
PVLA aims for high-impact legal infrastructure, not a volume-driven litigation shop. Our work focuses on strengthening public health authority, countering the expansion of non-medical exemptions, and shaping the legal and constitutional framework surrounding vaccine policy.
About the Role
The Pro-Vaccine Legal Alliance Associate Director will serve as a core member of PVLA, supporting state-level vaccine policy through legal research, analysis, and strategic advising. This role is ideal for a new attorney (or recent policy graduate) who is self-directed, comfortable working in a fast-moving policy environment, and motivated by the intersection of law, public health, and advocacy.
This position sits at the center of a rapidly evolving legal landscape. The PVLA Associate Director will help shape how courts, legislatures, and the public understand the legal foundations of vaccination policy, supporting work that has direct implications for public health, equity, and access to care across the country.
The PVLA Associate Director will work closely with the Director to develop litigation memos, provide real-time legal guidance during legislative sessions, support amicus and litigation strategy, and contribute to PVLA’s growing national legal infrastructure. This is a high-autonomy, mission-driven role with significant responsibility and opportunity to shape emerging legal strategy in public health.
